Thoughts on old static websites (html and css) vs new (databases)

I remember the olden dayz when i had fun making basic html and css sites. then the internet evolved and we entered the web 2.0 era of optimization and databases. i thought it was cool and convenient. on top of that, i thought it was a must. html and css was the past. to keep up and stay relevant, you had to make streamlined simplified layouts using php and databases.

however, as time has passed my opinion is changing.

php and mysql were convenient when i used it, but now my sites are disappearing. when the database disappears, or gets messed up, nothing works. when html gets messed up you can still get a bit of content out if it. but when the database gets messed up, all the content disappears along with it.
there are probably ways to remedy this, but when you're just a basic user, gone is gone.
on top of that, all the database stuff is stored somewhere behind the scenes.
html pages can be saved and edited locally on your machine. on top of that, if you edit them online, it's easy to just download the page and store it locally for safe keeping.

if everything falls apart, you still have the pages and they can easily be uploaded to another host.

when i did wordpress blogs and online marketing, so many blogs and so much information just kinda disappeared. all the optimization that was provided by the wordpress system got messed up when something wasn't working on the wordpress backend.

these are just my own thoughts.

im going back to html.
